Michael van Gerwen’s current match darts are the Winmau MVG Signature Edition darts. They are the first release of his tour-spec darts and are the exact specification he throws on the professional circuit. More About MVG

Michael van Gerwen began playing darts when he was just 13 years old, with his talent quickly becoming evident. Aged just 17, he defeated Martin Adams to win the 2006 World Masters, becoming the youngest player in history to do so. He then joined the PDC circuit the following year before making his breakthrough by winning the 2012 World Grand Prix.

Since then, “Mighty Mike” has established himself as one of the most successful darts players in history, winning the PDC World Championship three times, six World Grand Prix titles and three World Matchplay crowns.

His success has been reported to have generated upwards of £12 million in prize money.

About Michael van Gerwen Darts

The complete Michael van Gerwen collection is built around parallel barrels, with the main differences coming from grip intensities, finishes and how closely each model follows MVG’s actual tour setup.

Winmau MVG Evo X

If you’re looking for darts with plenty of feedback, the MVG Evo X is a good choice because of its heavy grip pattern. With 90% tungsten, you’ll get a centre-weighted parallel dart as well as the high grip, so your throw can feel more controlled.

Winmau MVG Signature

Michael van Gerwen’s current tour-spec dart is the Signature Edition Switch Point. These darts have a parallel barrel shape with a textured atom grip, just how MVG likes them. They’re great if you’d like to recreate his current setup.

Winmau MVG Exact

With round grooves and a medium grip level, the MVG Exact uses a 90% tungsten parallel barrel. These darts feel softer than the more textured surfaces on other models, giving you a more traditional throwing feel.

Winmau MVG Aspire

For a more affordable option, the MVG Aspire has the same player branding and signature barrel shape, but a lower tungsten content and lighter grip.

Winmau MVG Fusion

With the MVG Fusion, the shaft and flight are one piece. That way, the number of separate components is reduced and the flight alignment can stay consistent.

Winmau MVG Armor Case

The MVG Armor Case is the best way to store your playing set and keep it safe from wear and tear. It’s also useful when travelling to leagues and tournaments.

Best Moments & 9-Dart Finishes

When it comes to best moments and nine-darters, there are a lot to choose from, as MVG has produced some of the most memorable moments in professional darts history thanks to his scoring power, speed and clinical finishing.

His standout career moment came at just 24 years old, winning his first PDC World Championship by defeating Peter Wright 7-4 in the 2014 final at Alexandra Palace. It made him the youngest PDC world champion at the time and took him to number one in the world rankings.

As for nine-darters, few moments compare with his match against James Wade at the 2013 PDC World Championship. Van Gerwen not only completed a nine-darter, but he also opened the very next leg with another eight perfect darts, narrowly missing double 12 for what would have been back-to-back nine-darters. This is the closest any player has come to hitting back-to-back nine-darters at a televised event.

Copying the exact finger position is less useful for developing a successful throwing style than finding a repeatable reference point on the barrel and keeping your grip pressure consistent.
